A Course for the Busy Beginner

I wanted to make this course something that even the busiest person could fit in.

All you need to do is log in, hit play, and follow my clear instructions. Each lesson start with a video which is short & to the point - meaning you can take action right away. The lessons also include play-along exercises so you can practice the methods I teach with the guidance of an interactive player.

This is very much a beginner course, so I assume you've never picked up a guitar, and we go right from the basics. After finishing the course, you'll be playing songs with confidence.

If you can already play chords & strum songs with confidence, without stopping, stalling, or crashing, this course probably isn't for you.

Hi, I’m Chris. I've been a guitar tutor in Leeds, UK & online since 2014.

I’m passionate about helping people break out of a practice rut, so they can learn the music they love, and create music they’re actually proud of.
I've played in various bands & projects over the past 19 years. Most recently as a guitarist for Team Picture, my playing has been aired on BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 1, Radio X, BT Sport, and a Netflix series. I've also done TV work as a solo performer, recording acoustic guitar for an ITV series, which aired in 2019.

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
Will I learn songs inside the course?
The goal of this course is to give you the skills to play not just one song, but pretty much any song that has Chords & Rhythm. I help you choose your own songs inside the course. I don't teach real songs in the course, as this would be against copyright law - besides, who am I to say what your favourite songs are? Instead, you'll be playing chord sequences based on commonly used chords, and common rhythms that you can use for your own cover versions. You'll have a step-by-step, repeatable system to tackle songs - whether you like Acoustic classics, Indie, Folk, or Pop.
Can Chris check if I'm doing things right as I go through the course?
Of course! I'd love to see how you're getting on. If there's something that isn't clear in the course, I want to know about it. If you're stuck, there are lots of ways to get help. You can post comments and upload pictures for Chris to see. You can also post videos or photos to the private community, or send them to me directly. I'll give you personal feedback and tips. If you're still struggling, there is an option inside the course to schedule a one-to-one video call with Chris. Full video coaching calls are paid separately to the online course, at an extra cost.
Chris, what makes you qualified to teach this course?
My background in music spans two decades, 19 years of those being on guitar, 17 years writing & performing in bands, and 6 years teaching guitar as a full time profession. I have a Grade 8 certificate on guitar, and I also have a BA Hons Degree in Popular Music Studies. Really, though, the thing that qualifies me the most is the extensive amount of trial and error I have been through in my own personal practice over the years.
